Since the Cards lost the season opener, the Cards lost three more meets in a row. They lost a home meet versus Whiteland 5-0, a meet at Pike 4-1, and the team was beaten by Roncalli and the Southport Invitational.
According to senior Emilie Robbins, this had a lot to do with switching the lineup around. The first few meets, senior Aline Selke was out sick and with a hurt ankle which contributed to the lineup switches because she is usually first singles.
At the meet against Whiteland, the only win was senior Christine Wang who played second singles. Wang usually plays first doubles with senior Jackie Nguyen.
The meet against Perry Meridian has turned the season around, according to Nguyen. Cards beat Perry Meridian 3-2 for the first win of the season. Wang and Nguyen won at first doubles, Robbins and junior Sarah Sewall won at second doubles, and freshman Kayla Walker won at third singles.
“The meet was amazing,” said Nguyen. “The girls we played thought they had it in the bag, but we played hard and beat them. “
The Cards have won both meets since Perry Meridian. The team beat Mooresville at home 3-2 and beat Bloomington South away 3-2. During both meets first and second doubles and third singles have gotten the wins.
The Cards hope to continue their winning streak tonight against Franklin Central at home at 4:30.
