Two qualifiers from the boys’ track and field team, senior Trevor Young and sophomore Cameron Turner, competed in the Hoosier State Relays at Purdue University, on Saturday March 20. Young, who competed in the pole vault, placed 3rd and was one inch short of tying the school record.
“He should clear fifteen feet this season,” said Southport head coach Nathan Fishel.
Turner competed in the 55-meter dash and long jump this year in his debut appearance at HSR, though he did not score in either event.
“It’s an improvement from last season, and that’s what you look for,” said Fishel.
The Cardinals are scheduled to compete at New Palestine against New Palestine and Perry Meridian on Wednesday, March 24.
