The Southport girls swimming and diving team placed 10th out of 11 teams at the Franklin Central sectional meet on Feb. 4, scoring 28 points. Center Grove won the sectional title by a convincing margin of 159 points ahead of runner-up Franklin Central.
Swimmers that greatly contributed to Southport were junior Lizzy Dart, who placed 8th out of 29 swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly, senior Nicole Kistner, who placed 9th out of 33 swimmers in the 100-yard ****** stroke, and senior Amber Jeffries, who swam her leg of the 200-yard medley relay in 27.78 seconds.
The final team score was Center Grove 385, Franklin Community 226, Roncalli 135, Whiteland 134, Martinsville 130, Perry Meridian 94, Greenwood 92, Decatur Central 73, Indian Creek 68, Southport 28, Mooresville 23.
