The Southport girls swimming and diving team competed against Lawrence Central on Tuesday, January 26, in their last regular season meet.
The final score was Lawrence Central 113, Southport 68.
The loss didn’t come as a complete shock to Southport. The Cardinals had lost to Lawrence Central earlier in the season at the Conference Indiana meet, as well as at the Beech Grove Invitational. Still, they did place above LC at the Perry Meridian Invite on January 14. “Lawrence North has a solid program,” said Southport Assistant Coach Anastasia.
In an interview, Southport’s Coaches said that the team will soon begin to seriously taper for the sectional meet.
The Lady Cards are scheduled to compete next in the sectional meet at Franklin Community, on February 4th.
