The Cards boys’ basketball team came out firing the other night against south side rival Center Grove, but the boys couldn’t keep the steam going throughout the second half and eventually fell to the Trojans 69-55. Kellon Thomas led the Cards in a hard fought game with 19 points and five assists. Southport had a great first half, and went into the locker room with a lead, but Center Grove fought back strong and controlled the game from the third quarter on.
“There was a four minute stretch at the beginning of the third quarter that really put us behind,” said head coach Wes Peek, “aside from that four minute stretch I thought we were aggressive on both ends of the floor.”
The Cards will look to get back on track tonight as they travel to take on Greenfield Central. Tipoff is at 6:00pm.
