Southport went 4-1 at the Princeton Super 6 tournament on Nov. 21. According to coach Todd Weaver, they didn’t wrestle very well. He wasn’t very pleased but at the same time, if a team goes 4-1 the first meet they have a lot of potential.
“Right now we have a lot of guys with bad practice habits,” said Weaver. “They drill how they want to drill and not how we want them to and it shows up in meets. That was probably the thing I was most disappointed with at the meet.”
Junior John Cleary and seniors Vinney Palmer and Jordan East went undefeated. According to Weaver, Cleary wrestled very well. He had some tough competition but still pinned four out of the five guys he wrestled.
