On Tuesday, Southport’s boys swim team competed against Beech Grove and won their first meet of the season. They won with a score of 103-82 after trailing. After diving, the team managed to get first place in every event.
“I think (winning the meet) did a lot for team morale,” said assistant coach Anastasia Von Rahl
Sophomore Dustin Baker and sophomore Nate Loomis swam well and got their personal best in one of their events. Baker swam in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:20.20, dropping 10 seconds from the previous meet. Loomis swam a 1:15.93 in the 100 ****** stroke, and dropped 6 seconds from his previous best time, which he swam last year at sectionals.
“It was an exciting meet,” said head coach Matt Jeffries. “They’re continuing to grow a lot in their knowledge and it’s beginning to show in the meets.”
