Staff Report
Week two saw
conference play begin in Conference Indiana. Opening league games were played
on Friday, November 20th.
They were part of a busy week for conference squads.
Bloomington
South, the league’s only state ranked squad, defeated Southport 56-41 on Friday
evening. It was the only game of the week for the Panthers (2-0). For Southport
(1-2), it was the second setback of the week. The Cardinals dropped a 69-62
decision to Seymour on Tuesday evening.
Columbus
North opened conference play with a 46-38 victory over the Flashes of Franklin
Central. The Lady Bull Dogs then blasted Shelbyville 57-36 on Saturday evening
to move to 3-0 on the season. Franklin Central is now 1-2. They had beaten New
Palestine 54-49 on Tuesday evening.
Perry
Meridian downed Bloomington North 55-50 in conference, but then lost a
heartbreaker to North Central on Saturday 45-44 in overtime. The highly
regarded Falcons are off to a 1-2 start. It was the first loss for Bloomington North
(2-1) who had edged Terre Haute North 39-342 earlier in the week.
Finally,
Pike drilled Lawrence Central 67-34 in the league opener for both teams. Pike
is now 2-1 on the season. The Red Devils had been demolished by #1 Ben Davis on
Tuesday by an 82-37 count. Lawrence Central fell to 1-2. The Bears also fell to
Mt. Vernon on Tuesday night.
