BB: Conference Indiana Summary

Posted On: Thursday, November 27, 2008
By:

It was a
mixed bag this week for Conference Indiana teams in their season openers. Five
teams have hit the court and the league went just 2-3 versus non-conference
opposition. The two Bloomington schools do not open until Saturday evening and
Perry Meridian is idle until next Tuesday.

Columbus
North opened the year for CI teams on Tuesday evening. The Bull Dogs gave Coach
Jason Speer his first career win with a 56-43 triumph over Bedford-North
Lawrence.

Wednesday
night was not nearly as kind to the league. State ranked Franklin Central
started strong as they defeated Martinsville 60-48. However, the other three
league teams to see action all fell. Decatur Central handled Southport 62-50 in
the Cardinals’ first game under the direction of Mark Eccles. Lawrence Central
put up a valiant fight but fell to 4A #1 Lawrence North 62-47. Indianapolis
North Central travelled to Pike and manhandled the Red Devils 72-43. That
spoiled the debut of new Pike coach Pete Spoljaric.

Saturday
will be a busy night for conference teams. 4a #3 Bloomington South will travel
to Seymour to open their season while city rival North will host Bedford.
Elsewhere, Center Grove will travel to Franklin Central, Southport will
entertain Franklin Community, Lawrence Central will do the same to Indianapolis
Arlington, and Columbus North will invade small school power Hauser.
