Conference
teams face a variety of challenges in their first round sectional match ups of
the state soccer tournament. Generally however, the conference got favorable
draws to begin postseason play.
That is apparent no place more than at Ben Davis where the
resurgent
game against Decatur Central and Perry Meridian received the bye. Obviously in
both instances, they avoided the host Giants until the final match of the
tournament. Also in
Lawrence Central drew an opening assignment versus Heritage Christian. Township
rival Lawrence North awaits in the other bracket. Pike, one of the strongest
teams in the conference, opens tourney play against Cardinal Ritter. Franklin
Central will face Beech Grove in their opener at the Roncalli sectional.
Down south, the
schools avoided each other in the first round. South will face host Edgewood
while North will tangle with
