The Southport Cardinals boys’ soccer team traveled to Franklin Community on the August 26, 2008 and picked up their third win in a row. This is the first time in Cardinal history that the boys’ soccer team has started the season 3-0. The boys’ started the game scoring within the first three minutes to put them up 1-0. Then they scored on themselves to tie the game at 1-1. That was the only time Franklin Community put up any points.
Sophomore Wes Oliver and Junior Kraig Roberts both scored goals in the second half to put the Cardinals up 3-1.
Coach Josh Brown wasn’t thrilled with the game but said he’ll take the win.
“Even though we played poorly, we found a way to win, which was something we didn’t do last year,” Brown wrote in a email to the Southport News Bureau.
